Colton Village Hall stands at the end of Reading Room Drive off Bellamour Way.
It was completed in 1991 after a series of bi-ennial Steam and Village Festivals and other events raised sufficient funds. It was built on land in a field bought from the proceeds of the early Festivals and another large field beyond the Hall was donated by a past resident, Mr. John Price. The Architect was another resident, the late Mr Bill French and it was officially declared open by Miss Dorothy Jones who, at ninety years of age, was the oldest living resident at that time.
Before this building the Village Hall was a structure, over 100 years old, which was built as the Village Reading Room -- and some present residents remember when it was used as a Reading Room and Centre for Educational Activities and Instruction. This was demolished shortly before the opening of the new hall to give access along the aptly named Reading Room Drive.
The Hall hosts several regular Village meetings but is available for hire at competitive rates. It has a large kitchen, disabled toilet and ample parking space and just outside is the children's play area built with help of lottery funding. The Staffordshire Way passes through the car park of the Village Hall on its way North through the hamlet of Stockwell Heath or South to join the Trent and Mersey Canal towpath to Colwich, near to Shugborough Hall and on to Cannock Chase.
